You’ve probably heard of Reiki before but what about Theraphi? This newer healing process is relatively unknown, but it’s slowly becoming more commonplace.
My First Sessions – Reiki & Theraphi
I’ve always been curious about different kinds of energy healing. I’ve tried Shamanic journeying, EFT, crystal chakra healing, and several other modalities. But today marked my first experience with Reiki and Theraphi.
Reiki
My combo session started with Reiki – a Japanese healing technique that involves a therapeutic energy exchange between therapist and patient by touch. During this restorative process, the practitioner uses life-force energy and spiritual guidance to help heal the patient’s energetic pathways. As a result, the patient may feel reduced levels (or elimination) of negative stresses like physical pain, grief, and confusion. At the start of my healing session, I got comfy on the massage table. Once I wrapped myself in my a blanket, my practitioner, Dan, explained the reiki and theraphi processes. He turned on some soothing sound bath music. And after a few minutes in the dimly lit room, I began to close my eyes, sinking deeper into the practice. As my session progressed, I felt as if a light cloud of soft energy was gently caressing me. At times, I wavered in and out of a meditative state until my practitioner softly announced the start of the Theraphi portion.
Theraphi
Theraphi uses light frequencies and plasma bulbs to create a harmonizing biofield that promotes energetic healing. The technical aspects of the modality are a bit above my scientific rhetoric but here’s the breakdown of my experience in layman’s terms. The actual time of my healing was much shorter than my Reiki experience. It lasted about 5-10 minutes. Unlike Reiki, my practitioner left the room during Theraphi. From my understanding, the patient has the opportunity to direct their own energetic healing while in a meditative state. Through interaction with the biofield, the patient can subconsciously tap into their subtle energies and help heal themselves. Theraphi felt more intense than reiki and had an energizing effect.
General Thoughts
After both sessions, I felt as if I had undergone an invigorating hypnosis. I was so light-headed afterward that I nearly fell over another person leaving the spa. If you do try Reiki or Theraphi or combine both practices, I recommend resting before you get up even if you feel like you have a sudden burst of energy. Both treatments are very emotionally detoxifying, so it’s a good idea to take it easy.
This was my first time trying Reiki and Theraphi, but I know it will not be the last. I enjoyed the relaxation and healing benefits of both methods and who knows I might even try a Reiki training course next.
